We're back on Many Meetings and getting ready to go on our Summer cruise. But before we leave, a few pictures of some of our trips to Many Meetings over the winter months.
In November, we celebrated our Fifth Wedding Anniversary with the whole family and a very appropriate cake. It was wonderful to have so many of the family together. Although the party was in Surrey, we felt that MM should be there!
We spent Christmas on Many Meetings at Aston Marina and ensured that MM looked suitably festive with a Christmas tree and lots of lights. On Christmas Eve, we walked across the canal bridge to little Aston church for the candlelight carol service; it was truly lovely.
As ever, the staff at Aston were magnificent and made us feel so very welcome.
Lunch on Christmas Day was a veritable feast, accompanied by a "flight" of wines - a different wine chosen to go with each course. This meant a lot of glasses!
No year is complete without a winter cruise, so on Boxing Day we took MM out for a quick turn around the canal to celebrate - and got her back into her berth just before it started to snow. Total journey was 500 yards!
At the end of January, we stayed on MM on our way up to the Lake District and, while there, visited Etruria Staircase Locks, which had been drained for maintenance and were open to the public for the weekend. It was very intimidating to stand at the top and look into the empty depths!
At the end of April, on our way to the Chocolate Masterclass (R's favourite!) at the marina, we stopped off at Wolvercote visit Jenni and the boys on Rufford, the share boat that they jointly own with Judith & John. It was so nice to see them and to see Rufford in its smart new paintwork.
Our lovely friend Mary visited the UK from Maine in May and we managed to take her up to MM for two days as she had never been on a narrowboat before. Unfortunately it rained all day but we still had a lot of fun and Mary said she had loved the trip.
On the train up to Stone, M found this lovely notice in the facilities. It seems that someone at Vigin Trains has a great sense of humour.
Over the winter, we travelled only 3 miles and 2 locks.
